1UP CREW

The 1UP Crew is a graffiti collective from Berlin, internationally recognized for its radical and collective approach to urban art. Active since the early 2010s, the crew has established itself through a strategy of intensive marking of urban space, based on repetition, extreme visibility, and anonymity.

Their signature, 1UP , is displayed on a variety of surfaces—roofs, trains, industrial infrastructure, facades—often in hard-to-reach locations. This presence at height or in restricted areas is an integral part of their artistic approach, where risk, performance, and the speed of movement play a central role.

Aesthetically, 1UP's work favors a direct and stripped-down style. The forms are deliberately simple, sometimes monochrome, designed to become a lasting part of the urban landscape and to make an impact through their recurrence rather than ornamentation. Graffiti here becomes an autonomous visual language, conceived as a collective act rather than an individual expression.

By transposing this street-based practice to the gallery space, 1UP questions notions of legality, territory, and institutional recognition. Their work creates tension between urban art and its frameworks of presentation, while retaining the raw energy and spirit of transgression that characterize their identity. The collective thus affirms a vision of graffiti as a major contemporary practice, rooted in the city and its movement.
